CHOOSE YOUR WAY IN

Original 2048

Browser-native game, included as a clearly labelled companion rather than a desktop port. The upstream repository identifies the original project, MIT license and swipe support. No original commercial game files are needed.

KNOW BEFORE YOU PLAY

Your guide to 2048 in the browser.

About the original 2048

The 2048 browser entry links to Gabriele Cirulli's original web game and its source repository. Unlike the classic PC and console entries in this directory, 2048 is browser-native. Slide numbered tiles across the board, combining matching values and leaving room for future moves as you work toward the 2048 tile.

Keyboard and touch controls

Use the arrow keys on a keyboard, or swipe on a touch device, to move tiles. A move shifts the board in one direction; matching tiles can combine, and new tiles appear as play continues. Plan around the available empty spaces instead of moving only toward the next immediate merge. Check the original page for its current instructions and restart controls.

Files and local progress

The original web game does not require a purchased game-data archive. Progress is associated with the destination's browser storage, so clearing that site's data or switching devices can affect what remains available. The repository identifies the original implementation and its licence. This directory links to that project and does not synchronize your game or scores between devices.
